The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) has already received 35 letters of intent to locate in the bustling freeport since Administrator Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman assumed office six months ago.
In a statement issued on December 19, 2023, Pangandaman said the response of the market has been enthusiastic that’s why “we are reconfiguring parts of our Freeport to better accommodate our new types of locators.”
The AFAB will build a Central Business District and spruce up the beachfront with a boardwalk, and develop better housing options.
Beyond the opportunities brought about by FAB’s new charter, Pangandaman is also optimistic about the impact of the soon-to-be constructed Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge, saying that this will surely benefit the logistics operations of its locators, apart from offering easier access to Metro Manila. The Bataan side landing of the bridge will be adjacent to FAB.
The FAB is presently home to 96 operating enterprises, 45 of which are engaged in manufacturing. These enterprises which come from 14 countries, employ over 40,000 Filipinos. FAB has so far generated P10.63 billion in investments for the year 2023.
